Imats 2013 Sydney

Last Saturday at IMATS was awesome!

I have been waiting to go to IMATS for so long and I wasn't disappointed. I had a great time and got quite a few goodies.

Above is everything I bought from IMATS. Missing is my Zuca makeup case that I will talk about later.
First lets check out my new brush set!

Aren't these adorable!! They're pink! I can't get over the cuteness and they are so soft. These are brushes from bdellium tools, which is a brand I had never heard of before. I am planning on studying a makeup course next year so I had come to IMATS with that in mind. I was searching for a brush set as the one the school suggest is way to expensive. A few brush sets caught my eye at IMATS, all different brands and I hadn't heard of any of them. So I went with this set, not just because they are pink but they were so soft and seemed very high quality. They felt very similar to the brushes at Hakuhodo, without the crazy price tag. I am not sure when I will get to use these but I would like to do a review on them when I do. This set cost about $121. On their website they are on sale for $148.50 and they do ship to Australia. They are also available on iherb.com.

Next I had to buy some Velour lashes. They look and feel fabulous. The are made out of 100% mink fur. I think I may wear them tonight which I am excited about. You also got a 15% off voucher for your next Velour purchase online which is a nice incentive. Their website offers free shipping worldwide which is great. The lashes are originally $29.99 and I got them for about $23.

More lashes yay!
These were from a stand called ModelRock lashes however I am unsure of the brand of these particular lashes. I am not sure of the quality but they were 10 for $20 so I thought I could add them to my kit and use for practising applying lashes to others. I also got some clear DUO lash glue for $7.

Next was from Eve Pearl. My mum also got some items from Eve Pearl, but I have only listed mine below.
The random black thing on the left and the mirror underneath it are both palettes that slip onto your thumb. Eve was there using one when applying products to customers. I wanted to give them a try and you got both for only $7. On the right is concealer in light. It was $20, because it had been used once by Eve in a demonstration it was a little cheaper. I don't know if I love it because my under eye area still creases. But I am still getting used to it.

Nearly done!

Inglot was one of my favourite stores to visit on the day because I don't really go to Inglot much and had a few things in mind that I wanted to try. My biggest purchase of the day was also from Inglot and that was the Zuca makeup case. For some reason the Inglot Zuca case is cheaper than the original Zuca case but it appears to be exactly the same. I am so excited to start using it! It cost me $256 down from $320.

I really wanted to make my own freedom palette, so I got a five shadow palette. The palette is such good quality I love it. Unfortunately I can't tell you the shades I got because I can't find the receipt. I also got a clear shimmer less lipgloss in 29A, which I have wanted for a while. I also got a lipstick in a single palette. Again I can't tell you the shade I'm sorry!

Finally!
I also bought Lady Danger from MAC for $28. The MAC counter was crazy. The Inglot counter was also busy however MAC was out sold out of a lot of products and I was there at 10am. I don't think they knew how to cater for the crowd. So MAC didn't really impress me and I would probably skip it next IMATS as it is still so expensive.

And lastly I wanted to try Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation. Make Up Forever is hard to find in Australia and it was sold at IMATS at the Media Makeup store. I got the shade 118, which the lady at the counter recommended for me however it is too dark. Hopefully I will get a bit darker this summer, because it is has a great formula and really nice coverage. Plus it was $44 so I don't want to waste it!

I also got to meet a couple of my favourite YouTubers which was really nice because I am obsessed with YouTube and beauty gurus!!

IMATS was great and special thanks to my mummy for keeping me company all day and waiting in the long lines for me <3

What's in my travel makeup bag

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

Hey everyone, I have just landed in Sydney and I am headed to IMATS tomorrow. So I thought I would show you what I packed in my makeup bag(s).

First I will start with foundation. I bought with me a sample size Photoready primer from Revlon. I don't particularly use primers but sometimes I like to wear them when I want my makeup to last for a long period of time. For my foundation, lately I mix two together. First is L'oreal True Match in shade N2 Vanilla which is a little dark for me. Then I add one pump of MAC mineralised moisture foundation in NC15 which is a little light for me. Mixing them isn't ideal and I hope to pick up a new foundation tomorrow! For my brush I am using Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

Next my powder is Estée Lauder Translucent face powder. For my brush I just have a large powder brush that I have no idea what brand it is.

Then I have my bronzers, blushers and highlighters. For bronzer I have Benfits Hoola Bronzer, and use a Natio bronzer brush. For blush I have MUA new blushers in Marshmellow and Lolly, and use the Real Techniques Blush Brush. For highlighter I use the highlighter from Napolean Perdis Ultimate Contour Palette. I apply it with a BH Cosmetics Highlighting Brush.

Next I have eye products. For mascara I am using Maybelline the Falsies. I bought NYX black eyeliner pencil and also a MUA black liquid liner. For shadows I brought along the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette with some Real Techniques eye brushes and a MAC 217 blending brush. For my eyebrows I have got with me a MAC eyebrow pencil in Lingering and a MAC eyeshadow in Espresso which I apply with a Natio eyeshadow brush.
Finally my lip products which I went a little overboard on. First I have a Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia, Lucas Paw Paw Ointment and NYX lipgloss in Beige.

Then I couldn't decided what lipstick to bring so I bought five!
From left to right I have Revlon Lipstick in Primerose, YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 12, MAC Lipstick Myth and Lime Crime Lipsticks in Centrifuchsia and Geradium.

I hope you liked seeing what is in my makeup bag and I will have a haul to show you what I bought at IMATS and what I think of them next week.

REVIEW: Maybelline New York Dream Pure BB Cream

Thursday, 12 September 2013

Hey guys!

As you may have already read in my monthly favourites a couple of weeks ago, I love this BB cream from Maybelline! I have never been a big fan of BB creams because I thought they would never be able to provide me with the coverage that I wanted. However lately I have been loving giving my skin a break and not wearing any foundation on days when I'm feeling lazy. So I saw the commercial for this new BB cream and the fact that it had 2% salicylic acid really intrigued me. Maybelline recently had 50% there entire range at Priceline so I decided to give it ago.

I have fallen in love, and now realise why the world loves BB creams. I love using this when I want to even out my skin tone and coverup some imperfections. It is a medium coverage so if you really want to cover nasty red spots or dark under eye circles, you can layer the BB cream or I prefer to use concealer. However sometimes I don't even worry about concealer, there is nothing wrong with showing your imperfections!

The formula is for oily skin, however I have quite normal skin and can't say wether or not the product keeps oily skin under control. But what I can comment on, since I have been using this product around every second day for a few weeks, is the 2% salicylic acid. I don't think this prevented spots from appearing, however I do believe it got rid of spots quicker than if I had not be using the cream. Obviously this is just my opinion and I can't 100% tell you that it works but I think it is worth giving it ago, especially if you have troublesome skin.

The product has a nice and creamy formulation, it isn't too tough or too runny. I found it dries quite quickly on the skin, so you need to blend quickly to avoid an uneven application. It also leaves your skin feeling nice and smooth, wether you put a powder over the top or wear just by itself.

I'm loving this product and I hope if you try it you love it too!

Thanks for reading!!

The Lipstick Tag

Friday, 6 September 2013

Hey guys sorry for the late post this week, can you believe it's late on the week I have uni off! But I have an excuse, I have been working and staying on top of my homework. Boring! So I am really exited to do this tag I have seen floating around on blogs and YouTube. So here it goes, the Lipstick tag. Keep in mind I am not that into lipsticks but I am trying to wear them more often!

How many lipsticks do you own?

I have 18  lipsticks.

What was your first ever lipstick?
I don't remember my first ever lipstick, but I know it would have probably been a redish/brownish colour that I would have used for dancing concerts.

What is your most worn lipstick?
This is really hard because I feel like I wear all my lipsticks equally not enough. However at the moment I have been wearing a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose 668. It goes on as a light pink but does fade to become a more natural colour.

What is your favourite brand for lipstick?
I don't have a particular brand that is a favourite, but I do have a lot of Revlon lipsticks so I guess I would have to say Revlon.
What is your favourite finish?
My lips seem to always be dry so I need a lipstick with a moisturising finish, but that doesn't necessarily mean I stay away from matte shades. For example the Lime Crime Lipsticks are really creamy but still have a matte finish.
What was the last lip product you bought?
The last lipstick I bought was my YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in shade 12. It is really glossy and moisturising but I don't think the colour suits me :( It is an orangey red shade but I still wear it anyway.
How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag? (Including balms and glosses)
I have one balm and one gloss and if I'm wearing a lipstick I will bring that with me for the day.

What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
I only have one red lipstick in my collection :O  I really want to find the perfect red so I want to try some Lime Crime and MAC red shades. The red I do have is a Revlon Colorburst Liptisck in True Red 090. It is a nice bright red. It has quite a glossy finish which I like but I want to try and find a nice matte red.

How do you store your lipsticks?
Most of my lipsticks are on top of me acrylic makeup storage and I also have a few in a little circular lipstick holder my nana gave me. <3

What lip products are you currently lusting after?

Like I said before, I really want to experiment with some reds. I also want to try some popular MAC shades such as 'creme de nude' & 'angel'. I also want to try the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks. They are meant to be more pigmented than the shine collection.

Thats it guys. If you are reading this and have a blog too go ahead and do this tag. It really gets you thinking about the lipsticks you own and may have forgotten about.
