My NYX Collection & Review

Thursday, 7 November 2013

Hey everyone, as promised today I will be sharing all NYX items I own and what I think of them. I got some of these from a drug store in Hawaii and the rest from Target, meaning I paid all different prices. So I won't go into the prices today, but just know they are very cheap, especially in the US and international websites.

These are my most recent purchases that I made at Target. From left to right I have a Roll on Shimmer in Nude, three Butter Glosses in Merengue, Eclair and Apple Strudel and finally a Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Dolly Pink.
As you can see in the swatches, all these items are very well pigmented. The Roll on Shimmer is very glittery and sticks to the skin well. It does wipe away very easily however, so I would make sure this product is the last product to go on your eyes so it doesn't lose any sparkle. The Butter Glosses look very colourful on the back of your hand, however when I put them on my natural pink lips they lost there colour. I would recommend muting out your lip with a nude lipstick and putting the gloss over the top. Or use a similar colour lipstick to the gloss. The gloss will definitely make your lips shine and add a little extra colour. However I don't think the can be worn on their own unless you have very pale coloured lips. The Mega Shine Lip Gloss is great. I wore it last week by itself, it didn't need a lipstick underneath and it lasted all night with only one touchup. I had been drinking and noticed that none of it left a mark on my cup. I love when a lip product absorbs into your lips and doesn't budge!! As the name suggests it has a shine to it, and is not drying on the lips.

These products I have had in my collection for a little while now and have used quite a bit. From left to right I have two Jumbo Eye Pencils in Black Bean and Milk, one Eye/Eyebrow pencil in Seafoam Green, three Lipliner pencils in Hot Red, Pinky and Natural and lastly a Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige.

The Jumbo Eye Pencils are both really pigmented, creamy and are so easy to use. I like to use the black for lining my upper and lower waterlines because it is so easy, however because the product is so creamy I don't think it sticks to these areas as well as other eyeliners. You can use both colours as eye shadow bases and the white is great for a really intense highlight in the inner corner of your eye or under your eyebrow. The Eye/Eyebrow pencil in green was given to me from lipstickrepublic.com.au as a gift with purchase. Firstly, can I please mention that surely no one uses this green colour as an eyebrow pencil! Anyway, as an eye pencil I have yet to use this product, only because I haven't had a chance to use this colour. It is however a nice medium green colour and it also has a nice subtle shimmer to it. The pencil is also nice and gentle and easy to use. Just like the three Lipliners. These three lipliners are good lipliners. There is nothing amazing about them but they have good colour payoff and they are gentle on the lips. The red colour is more of a bright red and you wouldn't be able to use it with darker reds. I think I would prefer a darker red lipliner because then you could probably use it with both dark and bright reds. The pink colour is a darker pink but could also be used with lighter pink lipsticks. The nude colour is a little to dark, I would prefer it to be a little bit lighter. However for people who aren't as pale as me and wear darker nude shades, this liner would work perfectly. Finally, I have mentioned this products before. The Mega Shine Gloss is great and Beige is just a great everyday colour that goes with all different makeup looks. The Mega Shine Lip Gloss is probably my favourite line of items from NYX.

Far out I wrote heaps. If only uni and high school let me write essays about makeup, I would blitz it every time. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed getting my thoughts on the NYX items I have!!!

NYX : IN AUSTRALIA

Saturday, 2 November 2013

NYX has recently become available in many target stores around Australia. You can check out the NYX cosmetics Australia Facebook page to ask if they are stocked in a store near you or just pop into your local store and check out the cosmetics section with your fingers crossed, hoping you see the NYX section.

For those of you who haven't heard of NYX before, it is a cheap cosmetics brand that offers high quality products at affordable prices. I would definitely recommend checking them out.

In todays post I will be telling you about the selection they have at Target and the all important prices. Then on Friday for my regular post I will be going through my NYX collection.

First of all lets take a moment to thank Target for deciding to stock NYX in Australia. I'm pretty sure I had seen NYX in Australia years and years ago in random stores and I am sure that you could get them from some makeup suppliers, however Target is just so convenient for most people to access.

The selection they had at the Target store I went to was quite small, especially compared to the other brands they stock. They really only had the basics such as eye and lipliners, a couple different ranges of lip glosses and lipsticks and a few blush and eyeshadow options. They also had brow products, powders, setting sprays and primers. For some reason, probably because I wasn't specifically looking for it, I don't remember if they had foundations. FAIL. I can't remember seeing them but surely they would have some! I notice they didn't have all their eye shadows and blushes. There was also no eye shadow palettes. There also didn't have all ranges of lipsticks available or any pigments, so in some cases you may still need to buy NYX online.

Now for the prices. They are definitely not as cheap as they are in the US, which is expected. Everything still has a few more dollars added to it, but it is still very cheap. To give you a comparison of prices, I bought one Mega Shine Lip Gloss for $11.95 and on crushcosmetics.com.au it is priced at $7.95. Crush Cosmetics is an online Australian retailer where you can purchase NYX and other brands. Overall the range and prices online ARE better, however having NYX stocked in Target gives you the ability to purchase and have products instantly and you can swatch products and get a better understanding of how they look and feel.

Target has a special offer going on at the moment where you can get $10 off when you spend over $50 which ends tomorrow, so go in and take advantage of this awesome deal!!!
See you here Friday where I will go through my NYX collection!
